Minimize drag. Reduce heat. And perform better, for longer, with less maintenance and downtime. These are the true tests of any bearing. Our comprehensive line of single-, double- and multi-row Timken cylindrical roller bearings helps extend equipment life and lower maintenance costs.
Bearing Nomenclature[edit | edit source]

Design Attributes[edit | edit source]
- Available in brass cage, steel cage and full-complement designs
- Dimensionally interchangeable industry-standard mounted bearings from 65 mm to 1,200 mm
- High load carrying capacity resulting from proprietary profiles and optimized raceway surfaces
- Smooth surfaces reduce friction and lower operating temperatures to promote longer bearing life.
- Accommodates axial expansion and contraction.
- Provides axial displacement between rings with minimum friction while rotating.
- Supports heavy radial loads.
Types of Cylindrical Bearing[edit | edit source]
Single Row[edit | edit source]
Timken® single-row EMA series cylindrical roller bearings incorporate a unique cage design, proprietary internal geometry and special surface textures, available in a wide variety of size ranges and configurations.
NJ, NU (Series 22, 23, 2 and 3)[edit | edit source]
Timken offers standard and specially designed single-row cylindrical roller bearings in a wide range of configurations and series for your application requirements. Our EJ series steel cage bearings available in 65-150 mm bore sizes, are part of our offering that includes brass cage and full-complement cylindrical roller bearings.
Size range: 65 to 150 mm OD
N (RIN, RN)[edit | edit source]
These bearings carry radial load only and can accommodate both expansion and contraction. The relative axial displacement of one ring to the other occurs with minimum friction while the bearing is rotating. Type N bearings may be used in one or two positions for shaft support if other means of axial location are provided. The outer ring has a cylindrical bore without ribs and the inner ring incorporates two ribs.
Size range: 80 mm to 2000 mm OD
NJ (RIJ, RJ)[edit | edit source]
Cylindrical bearing type NJ has double-ribbed outer and single-ribbed inner rings and can support heavy radial loads, as well as light unidirectional thrust loads up to 10 percent of the radial load. The thrust load is transmitted between the diagonally opposed rib faces in a sliding rather than a rolling motion.
Size range: 80 mm to 2000 mm OD
NF (RIF, RF)[edit | edit source]
Cylindrical bearing type NF has single-ribbed outer and double-ribbed inner rings and can support heavy radial loads, as well as light unidirectional thrust loads up to 10 percent of the radial load. The thrust load is transmitted between the diagonally opposed rib faces in a sliding rather than a rolling motion.
Size range: 80 mm to 2000 mm OD
NP (RIT, RT)[edit | edit source]
Cylindrical bearing type NP has a double-ribbed inner ring and a single-ribbed outer ring with an abutting loose rib, which allows the bearing to provide axial location and to carry light thrust loads in both directions. Factors governing radial and thrust load capacities are the same for Types NJ.
Size range: 80 mm to 2000 mm OD
NUP (RIP, RP)[edit | edit source]
Cylindrical bearing type NUP has a double ribbed outer ring and a single-ribbed inner ring with an abutting loose rib, which allows the bearing to provide axial location and to carry light thrust loads in both directions. Factors governing radial and thrust load capacities are the same for type NJ.
Size range: 80 mm to 2000 mm OD
Double Row[edit | edit source]
Timken two-row, or double-row, cylindrical bearings offer added radial capacity and are interchangeable. Dimensions and diameters under the rollers (NNU style) and over the rollers (NN style) meet ISO standards.
Two-row, or double-row, cylindrical bearings are designed for additional strength in carrying radial loads. These bearing types are interchangeable so the dimensions and diameter under the rollers (NNU style) and diameter over the rollers (NN style) are held to an ISO/DIN standard. Interchangeability is designed for the ring without the rollers to allow interchange with competitor inner rings.
Size range: 80 mm to 2000 mm OD
Design Attributes[edit | edit source]
- Designed to ISO/DIN specified interchangeable dimensions where available.
- Sold as complete assembly.
- Available in same size range as single row product.
- Current designs use NN, NNU nomenclature.
- Standard cage design is a drilled pocket, finger-style bronze retainer.
Multiple Row[edit | edit source]
Timken four-row cylindrical roller bearings withstand the rigors of daily use in applications where moderate and high speeds, high radial loads, elevated temperatures and extreme debris present constant challenges. Four-row cylindrical bearings are almost exclusive to metals industry and carry heavy radial loads in steel, aluminum and other metal rolling mills.
Size Range: 145 mm to 1040 mm Bore.
Design Attributes[edit | edit source]
- Design offers very high radial load capacity. No thrust capacity.
- Straight and tapered bores available.
- Inner races are interchangeable with outer assemblies.
Single Row Full Complement[edit | edit source]
Full-complement (NCF) single-row Timken bearings include integral flanges on the inner and outer rings. These bearings also can manage axial loads in one direction and permit small axial displacements.
Size range: 100 mm bore to 2000 mm OD
Design Attributes[edit | edit source]
- Designed to ISO/DIN specified interchangeable boundary dimensions where available.
- Sold as a completely unitized assembly.
- Both single row and double row products available in same size range.
- Standard designs use NCF, NNCF nomenclature.
- Full complement construction, no cage included.
- High capacity, but operating speed may be an issue requiring close application scrutiny.
- Assembly outer ring design provides significant internal axial float capability.
Double Row Full Complement[edit | edit source]
Timken now offers a broader range of full complement cylindrical roller bearings to meet the need for increased radial load carrying capacity by maximizing the number of rollers in a given envelope. The expanded offering includes multiple series of one-row and two-row designs starting at 100 mm bore.
Size range: 100 mm bore to 2000 mm OD
